Negative space is definitely working for you here, Ben. Compositionally, this is a great looking piece. In photography, they talk about the rule of thirds, where, instead of having everything centered, you have the components offset at the horizontal and vertical 1/3 and 2/3 marks. That's what you've done here basically. The viewer's eye is drawn from the open mouth down the upper torso (NOT the right arm, even though there's a visual fork in the road) because it's the thicker and more detailed aspect of the body and then back up to the left hand. I think, if you had kept the body straight up and down, that you might have lost the hand. The addition of the right hand further down in the ooze pool is a nice addition, though it comes in as a secondary component which could have been omitted and still maintained the mood of the piece.

On the basis of character, I think you've nailed it, though I'd associate build more with Carnage instead of Venom. Either way, you've captured the essence of the character in a very emotional manner.

I can see your intent, of reformation being a painful process, but I can also see a maniacal laugh coming specifically from the shape of the eyes. They aren't panicked, but rather with the brow down in defiance. This isn't a "Wizard of Oz" moment where the witch is melting. Very well done.

It would be interesting to see this piece colored, as the palette choices would make or break its effectiveness.

Great job, sir.

This is cool, man. I'm working on something similar with a zombie drawing. Should be done with it soon :)

No, he's reforming after having been in liquid form, it just seems like a painful process to me. Thanks for the fav
